The Princeton women’s basketball team dominated Dartmouth with a decisive 97-47 victory on Friday night in Hanover, New Hampshire. This match marked another impressive feat for the 25th-ranked Tigers, who now hold a remarkable 22-3 record, including 10-2 in Ivy League play. The win is part of a robust streak where Princeton has emerged victorious in 19 of their last 21 contests, with the only setbacks being against Columbia. Remarkably, Princeton has bested Dartmouth 31 times in their last 32 meetings dating back to the 2009-10 season.
Standout Performers and Game Highlights
In this latest face-off, three standout players led the charge for Princeton, each contributing 13 points: Fadima Tall, Madison St. Rose, and Emily Eadie. The Tigers displayed their offensive prowess, particularly in the second half, outscoring Dartmouth 32-12 in the third quarter. Highlights from the third included successful consecutive three-pointers from Toby Nweke and Grace O’Sullivan, along with back-to-back baskets from Skye Belker, contributing to a staggering 25-4 run that extended Princeton’s lead to 65-30.
The fourth quarter continued to highlight Princeton’s dominance, as they opened with a 13-2 run to push the score to 85-40. Notably, Belker and Nweke each finished with 12 points, while Taylor Charles recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Tigers displayed exceptional defense, registering 20 steals, with Nweke leading the way in that category. Princeton boasted an efficient shooting night, hitting 57% of their attempts while also controlling the boards with a 40-23 rebounding advantage.
Dartmouth’s Struggles and Upcoming Matches
On the other hand, Dartmouth, now 10-15 overall and 1-11 in conference action, struggled and was led by Zeynep Ozel and Jacalyn Myrthil, who each scored nine points. The Big Green struggled significantly, turning the ball over 26 times and taking 29 fewer shots than their opponents.
