Predators Make Roster Changes as Cameron Reid Heads Back to OHL Amid Injury Concerns

Nashville Predators Roster Adjustments

The Nashville Predators have made adjustments to their roster following the Gold Star Showcase, where the 2025 first-round draft choice Cameron Reid participated in his initial preseason game. Reid, who was selected 21st overall in the draft, will return to play with the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Training Camp Updates

Meanwhile, defenseman Scott Harrington has been released from his professional tryout, bringing the number of players remaining in the Predators’ training camp down to 52, comprising 29 forwards, 17 defensemen, and 6 goaltenders.

Before his reassignment, Reid had just returned to the ice after recovering from an injury he sustained during the Predators’ last game in the Prospect Tournament against the Florida Panthers on September 15. He practiced on Wednesday and participated in Thursday’s intersquad scrimmage, marking his first competitive action of the preseason. The timing of his reassignment is significant, as it occurs just ahead of a weekend where the Predators will face the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Carolina Hurricanes in back-to-back road games.

Player Performance and Injuries

Last season, Reid showcased his scoring ability, racking up 54 points across 67 games, along with 44 penalty minutes while with the Kitchener Rangers. His performance earned him a spot on Team West at the CHL/USA Prospects Challenge, where he was honored as the Most Valuable Player.

Additionally, the Predators are managing several injuries within the team. Forward Matthew Wood was noted to be sidelined following his early exit from the scrimmage on Thursday due to an undisclosed injury. This adds to the roster woes as defenseman Nicolas Hague is also expected to be out for 4-6 weeks due to an upper-body injury incurred during a game against the Panthers on September 21.

On a more positive note, defenseman Tanner Molendyk and forward Zachary L’Heureux have resumed practicing after missing the opening week of training camp due to their own injuries.

Looking Ahead

As the Predators continue to refine their roster, all eyes will be on how these changes impact their upcoming games and overall performance this preseason.
