Detroit Pistons Dominate Toronto Raptors
The Detroit Pistons showcased a dominant performance against the Toronto Raptors, emerging victorious with a score of 113-95 on Wednesday night. This game, which served as the last competitive outing for both teams before the All-Star break, marked the Pistons’ sixth win in their last seven matches. Despite being without key centers Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren, who were suspended earlier in the day due to their involvement in an altercation during a recent game against Charlotte, Detroit managed to assert their dominance.
Standout Performances
Cade Cunningham was a standout player, leading the team with a commendable 28 points, supported by Paul Reed, who contributed 22 points, 16 of which came in an explosive first quarter, marking a significant contribution in only his seventh start of the season. Reed opened the game with a 3-pointer and maintained an impressive shooting streak, going seven for seven in the initial frame.
The Pistons, currently leading the Eastern Conference, demonstrated their prowess by outscoring the Raptors significantly in the paint, 50-34, and they also held a decisive edge in rebounding with 46 compared to Toronto’s 35. Duncan Robinson chipped in with 13 points, while Tobias Harris had a double-double, finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Cunningham rounded out his performance with seven rebounds and nine assists, matching his season-high with six successful attempts from beyond the arc.
Raptors’ Efforts
From the Raptors’ side, Immanuel Quickley led the scoring with 18 points, followed by Scottie Barnes‘s 17 points. RJ Barrett and Brandon Ingram also contributed with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Notably, Toronto’s Jakob Poeltl returned to the lineup after a 24-game absence due to a back injury, managing to score nine points and securing six rebounds during his 20 minutes on the court.
Upcoming Matches
As the Pistons improve their road record to 18-7, they will face the New York Knicks next on February 19. Meanwhile, the Raptors are set to take on the Chicago Bulls on the same day.
