Peyton Anderson’s Debut Goal Powers Minnesota Frost to 4-1 Win Over Seattle Torrent

Rookie Milestone for Peyton Anderson

In a standout performance on Friday night, rookie player Peyton Anderson marked a milestone in her young career by scoring her inaugural goal, aiding the Minnesota Frost to a convincing 4-1 victory against the Seattle Torrent in the Premier Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). This win at home improved the Frost’s record to 8-3-3-4.

Game Highlights

It took the Frost merely 2 minutes and 30 seconds to seize the lead, with Anderson netting the first goal of the evening thanks to assists from Éizabeth Giguère—who registered her first assist of the season—and Claire Butorac, who added her second assist.

The dominance continued as Abby Hustler expanded Minnesota’s lead to 2-0 late in the first period, scoring her third goal of the season with just 2:32 left on the clock. This goal was assisted by Kendall Cooper, marking her 10th assist, and Grace Zumwinkle, who tallied her fifth.

Further extending their lead, Klára Hymlárová found the back of the net 4:38 into the second period, bringing her seasonal total to two goals. This play was facilitated by assists from Britta Curl-Salemme, who achieved her 11th assist, and Kelly Pannek, marking her eighth.

Seattle managed to reduce the deficit to 3-1 with a power-play goal from Lexie Adzija, who scored her fourth goal of the season with 8:19 left in the third period. This effort was supported by assists from Anna Wilgren, collecting her fifth, and Danielle Serdachny, who secured her fourth.

As the game neared its conclusion, Taylor Heise capped off the scoring by netting an empty-net goal, her fifth of the season, solidifying her status by becoming one of the few players to record over 20 points in consecutive seasons across the league’s first three years.

Goalkeeping and Team Performance

Goalkeeper Maddie Rooney contributed to the victory with a solid performance, making 28 saves, while on the other side, first-year goalie Corinne Schroeder faced 27 shots from the Frost, as Seattle continues a road trip with this game being the first of five consecutive away matches.

Notably, Minnesota has exhibited offensive prowess by scoring 20 goals in the first period this season, second only to the Ottawa team, while Seattle’s defense has struggled, allowing 19 first-period goals, which ties them for the most in the league with New York.

The Frost, who are two-time defending champions, marked a historic feat by becoming the first team to win three consecutive games by a margin of three or more goals, previously achieving 3-0 and 6-2 victories in earlier matchups against Seattle.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead, Seattle will face Toronto on Sunday, while Minnesota will host New York on the same day.
