Florida continued to apply pressure during Nick Dowd’s double-minor penalty, enhancing their lead to 5-2 when Seth Jones unleashed a shot that was initially thought to have hit the crossbar but was confirmed to have found the back of the net. With 7:20 left in the game, Rasmus Sandin pulled one back for the Capitals, making it a 5-3 contest.
