“He has a lingering ankle situation,”
Carlisle said, which refers to a left ankle sprain sustained during a December victory over the Lakers.
Zubac’s Performance and Potential
During his time with the Clippers, Zubac demonstrated resilience, returning to play earlier than anticipated after dealing with a similar injury. Carlisle commented on Zubac’s determination in getting back onto the court, noting that he had played the majority of his games without significant injuries. However, considering Zubac’s current discomfort and swelling, Carlisle emphasized the importance of waiting until he is nearly fully healed before returning him to competitive play.
Zubac is having a noteworthy season, averaging 14.4 points and 11 rebounds per game with an impressive shooting percentage of 61.3%. He has recorded 24 double-doubles this season and is recognized as a competent defensive player, having been selected for the NBA All-Defensive second team.

Carlisle also drew parallels between Zubac and former Pacers center Myles Turner, who left Indiana for the Milwaukee Bucks this past offseason.
