Ollie Palmer Moves from Wrexham to Swindon Town in Pursuit of Fresh Challenges

Ollie Palmer’s Transition to Swindon Town

Ollie Palmer, a beloved figure at Wrexham, is set to continue his football journey with Swindon Town after parting ways with Wrexham following a successful tenure lasting three and a half years. Ryan Reynolds, co-owner of Wrexham, expressed his sadness over Palmer’s exit, labeling it a “gut punch” for the club.

Palmer’s Impact at Wrexham

Palmer’s contributions, characterized by his impressive goal tally and dedication, played a crucial role in the team’s ascent to the Championship league. The 33-year-old forward’s move came by mutual consent, and his time at Wrexham has seen him net 46 goals across 156 matches. He joined the club in January 2022 when they were still competing in the National League and was instrumental in their remarkable three consecutive promotions to rise to the second tier of English football.

Manager’s Praise and Future Aspirations

Phil Parkinson, the manager of Wrexham, praised Palmer for his vital contributions during his spell at the club.

“Ollie has been a significant part of our journey, and this new opportunity at Swindon allows him to pursue first-team action while returning closer to family,”

said Parkinson.

New Beginnings at Swindon Town

Palmer’s departure marks a notable shift in Wrexham’s roster as they prepare for a new challenge in the Championship, following the loan move of another club icon, Paul Mullin, to Wigan, and Jack Marriott’s transfer to Reading. Palmer has signed a two-year deal with Swindon Town and expressed enthusiasm about the club’s ambitions.

“I’m really eager to join a club with Swindon’s stature. The manager’s vision for the team resonated with me, and I am excited to contribute to their push for success in the upcoming season,”

Palmer stated. He looks forward to integrating with his new teammates and engaging with the supporters at the County Ground.

“Last season’s end performance showcases Swindon’s potential, and I can’t wait to be part of this journey.”
