Oklahoma State Triumphs Over West Virginia in Overtime
In a thrilling basketball showdown Tuesday night, Oklahoma State secured a much-needed victory against West Virginia, clinching the game 91-84 in overtime at Stillwater. This win marked the end of a challenging five-game losing streak for the Cowboys. Leading the charge for Oklahoma State was Kanye Clary, who contributed 17 points to the team’s effort.
Overtime Highlights
The overtime period began with an explosive start from the Cowboys, who quickly scored the first seven points. A pivotal moment came when Anthony Roy executed a three-point play, followed by Parsa Fallah’s successful free throw. Jaylen Curry then sealed the surge with a crucial 3-pointer, extending Oklahoma State’s lead to 84-77 with just under two minutes to play.
Despite West Virginia’s attempt to mount a comeback, reducing the deficit to five points twice in the final half minute, they couldn’t close the gap further. Earlier in the game, the Mountaineers faced a 14-point deficit just after halftime, but fought back valiantly.
Regulation Drama
In the closing moments of regulation, both Fallah and Clary hit 3-pointers, allowing Oklahoma State to regain a 77-72 edge before West Virginia’s Chance Moore tied it up at 77 with 1:11 left on the clock. Clary’s effort to win the game in regulation with a last-second 3-point attempt fell short, pushing the game into overtime.
Player Performances
Fallah stood out for Oklahoma State, contributing 18 points and securing eight rebounds, while Jaylen Curry added 15 points and Andrija Vukovic chipped in with 12. Both Roy and Christian Coleman also made significant contributions, scoring 10 points each.
For West Virginia, Honor Huff was a standout performer, hitting six 3-pointers and finishing with 20 points, while teammates Treysen Eaglestaff and Moore added 18 and 14 points respectively, the latter also grabbing 10 rebounds.
