Oilers’ Strategic Move
On Monday, the Oilers addressed their championship aspirations by acquiring defenseman Connor Murphy from the Chicago Blackhawks. In this transaction, the Oilers sent a second-round draft pick from 2028 to Chicago in exchange for Murphy, who is 32 years old and will be due $2.2 million for his remaining year under a $4.4 million cap hit following Chicago’s salary retention.
