Novak Djokovic’s 900th Week in ATP Top 10
Novak Djokovic has reached a significant career landmark as he kicks off his 900th week within the ATP Top 10 rankings. This achievement comes during a week when players could participate in various ATP 250 events, three in total—two located in Europe and the other in Mexico following the Wimbledon Championships.
Noteworthy Champions of the Week
Among the week’s noteworthy champions, Denis Shapovalov captured the title at the hard courts in Los Cabos, while Alexander Bublik claimed victory in Gstaad. Luciano Darderi was the third victor of the week, triumphing in Bastad. Their respective victories led to notable shifts in the ATP rankings:
- Shapovalov climbed five positions to settle at 28th, marking his return to the Top 30.
- Bublik also made a comeback into this elite group, now positioned at 30th.
- Darderi surged nine spots to take the No. 46 rank.
Current Rankings Overview
In the upper echelons of the rankings, although Jannik Sinner continues to hold the top spot with 12,030 points, both he and second-placed Carlos Alcaraz (8,600 points) have opted out of the upcoming Canadian Open. Alexander Zverev, maintaining his position as the third-ranked player, experienced a setback, shedding 330 points earned from his Hamburg Open runner-up finish last year, now totaling 6,030 points—995 points more than fourth-ranked Taylor Fritz.
Jack Draper, who also withdrew from the ATP Masters 1000 event in Toronto, remains in fifth place with 4,650 points—520 points ahead of the legendary Novak Djokovic, who is in sixth position. Notably, Djokovic has spent 428 weeks at the World No. 1 ranking throughout his career, with only 75 weeks placing him outside the Top 5.
Intensifying Competition for Top 10 Spots
The competitive scene is heating up as three players are jockeying closely behind Djokovic, particularly Lorenzo Musetti in seventh, who has 3,350 points—just 20 points ahead of Ben Shelton in eighth. Shelton stands out this week as the only player in the Top 10 to advance in the rankings, overtaking Holger Rune, who now finds himself ninth after losing points from his quarter-final performance in Hamburg last year.
Andrey Rublev was the only player in the Top 10 to compete post-Wimbledon, successfully reaching the semi-finals in Los Cabos and earning an additional 100 points, putting him at a total of 3,160 points. The battle for the Top 10 spots is intensifying, with Frances Tiafoe, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur, Daniil Medvedev, Tommy Paul, and Karen Khachanov—all previously ranked within the Top 10—occupying positions 11 through 16.
