2024-25 PFA Young Player of the Year Award Nominees
The prestigious 2024-25 Men’s Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Young Player of the Year award has unveiled its six candidates, featuring standout talents from the Premier League. Among the nominees are Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly and Chelsea’s Liam Delap, both of whom have made significant impressions in the past season.
The winner of this coveted accolade will be determined by fellow players and announced during a ceremony scheduled for August 19 at Manchester Opera House.
Notable Candidates
Myles Lewis-Skelly, just 18 years old, has been recognized for his remarkable development within Arsenal’s ranks, highlighted by his first-ever senior goal scored during a 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City. His teammate, Ethan Nwaneri, also makes the shortlist, having previously set the record as the youngest player to appear in a Premier League match at the tender age of 15 back in 2022, and he too has delivered impressive performances this past season.
Another prominent contender is Dean Huijsen, who recently signed with Real Madrid after a stellar season at Bournemouth, where his defensive prowess caught the eyes of many. Madrid activated his hefty £50 million ($67 million) release clause in May, reflecting his rise in the footballing world. Notably, his former Bournemouth teammate, Milos Kerkez, has also been noted for his performances and is reportedly on the verge of a transfer to Liverpool, with a deal reportedly agreed upon for around €45 million ($52 million), as reported by ESPN.
Liam Delap showcased his skills at Ipswich Town, where his striking ability helped him net 12 goals before making a high-profile move to Chelsea for £30 million earlier this month. Rounding out the list of nominees is Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, who played a critical role by scoring eight league goals and aiding his team to secure a spot in the Europa League under the management of Unai Emery.
The Future of Football
The competition is fierce, and the recognition of these young talents underscores the bright future of football in the Premier League.
