Noah Gregor Transitioning to Florida Panthers After Stint with Maple Leafs

Noah Gregor Joins Florida Panthers

Noah Gregor, who previously played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, is set to join the Florida Panthers as a potential new addition for the upcoming season. The 27-year-old forward has signed a professional tryout agreement with the Panthers, according to a report by Jason Gregor on Sports 1440.

Career Overview

This move comes after Gregor played six seasons in the NHL, having been drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 2016 NHL Draft, where he was selected in the fourth round as the 111th overall pick.

Last season saw him splitting time between the Ottawa Senators and the Sharks, appearing in 52 games and recording seven points consisting of four goals and three assists. His transition from Ottawa to San Jose was part of a trade deal where he, along with Zack Ostapchuk and a 2025 second-round pick, was sent to the Sharks in exchange for Fabian Zetterlund, Tristen Robins, and a 2025 fourth-round pick.

Recent Performance

Prior to the 2023-24 NHL season, Gregor was on a professional tryout with the Maple Leafs, where he performed well enough during training camp to secure a one-year contract worth $775,000 on October 10, 2023. Throughout that season with Toronto, he contributed to the team’s bottom six, tallying six goals and an equal number of assists over the course of 63 games. In the playoffs, he participated in two out of seven games against the Boston Bruins, yet did not register any points.

Following the completion of the season, Gregor found himself as a restricted free agent, but the Maple Leafs chose not to extend a qualifying offer. Consequently, he became a free agent and went on to sign a one-year deal with the Senators for $850,000 starting July 1, 2024.

Future Prospects

Now, as the Panthers look to build on their recent success—having won their second consecutive Stanley Cup after overcoming the Maple Leafs in a tight seven-game series during the second round—Gregor’s potential addition could bolster their bottom six. To date, the Panthers have shown a track record of developing players effectively within their organization, making this signing a potentially strategic move as they aim for a third consecutive championship title.
