In a gesture of solidarity, the Blue Jackets organization expressed their sorrow in a statement posted on social media on March 13, offering their heartfelt condolences and support to the Larsen family.
Coaching Career and Challenges
Throughout his coaching career with the Blue Jackets spanning nearly a decade, Larsen had significant roles, including time as both an assistant and head coach with the team’s AHL affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts, before moving to the NHL level. He was ultimately promoted to head coach following Tortorella’s departure under mutual agreement.
Larsen faced significant challenges during his coaching tenure, particularly two tough seasons filled with injuries, which culminated in his dismissal following the 2022-23 season. Return to the NHL
