NFL Celebrates Super Bowl’s 60th Anniversary with Green Day’s Performance and Tribute to MVPs

In a significant celebration of its 60-year legacy, the NFL has enlisted the iconic band Green Day to headline the opening ceremony of Super Bowl LX. Scheduled for February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, this event is intended to honor the rich history of the championship while welcoming past MVPs who have made a lasting impact on the game.

Green Day’s Performance

Hailing from the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, Green Day, featuring Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool, promises to deliver a selection of their most celebrated hits during the ceremony. Expressing enthusiasm for this hometown opportunity, lead vocalist Armstrong remarked:

“We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard! We are honored to welcome the MVPs who’ve shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let’s have fun! Let’s get loud!”

Broadcast and Additional Performances

The ceremony will be broadcast live at 3 p.m. Pacific on NBC, Telemundo, Peacock, and Universo. Tim Tubito, the NFL’s senior director of event and game presentation, conveyed the excitement of featuring Green Day for this milestone, stating:

Following the opening performance, the pregame festivities will continue with Charlie Puth singing the national anthem, Brandi Carlile performing “America the Beautiful,” and Coco Jones offering her rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” further enhancing a night dedicated to honoring football’s greatest moments and talents.
