Transfer Agreement for Anthony Elanga
Newcastle United has successfully negotiated a transfer agreement with Nottingham Forest for winger Anthony Elanga. The deal, reportedly structured at an upfront cost of £52 million, includes additional performance-related bonuses deemed challenging to achieve. Elanga is expected to finalize personal terms under a five-year contract and will undergo a medical examination within the next two days. He could potentially join his new teammates by week’s end.
Previous Offers and Interest
Previous reports from July 3 revealed that Newcastle was keen on bringing Elanga onboard, making a new offer exceeding £50 million plus bonuses after Forest rejected an earlier bid of £45 million in June. The Premier League club had also shown keen interest in the 23-year-old during the previous summer.
Back in 2024, the initial proposals from Newcastle included a fee around £45 million—which comprised a starting payment of approximately £30 million, a swap involving Paraguay international Miguel Almiron (valued at £5 million, who later transferred to Atlanta United), and two additional potential payments each worth £5 million.
Elanga’s Performance and International Career
Elanga, who transitioned to Nottingham Forest from Manchester United in July 2023, has made 83 appearances for the club, contributing significantly with six goals and 11 assists during the last Premier League season. His efforts were crucial in helping Forest secure a seventh-place finish, allowing them to qualify for the Conference League.
Furthermore, Elanga has represented Sweden 22 times since making his debut in 2022, his most recent match being a 90-minute performance against Hungary this June.
