2026 NBA All-Star Game Starters
The NBA recently revealed the list of ten starters for the upcoming 2026 All-Star Game, as determined by fan and media votes. Eight players I voted for found their way into the final lineup. From the Western Conference, we have Nikola Jokić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Dončić, and rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama. The Eastern Conference representatives include Giannis Antetokounmpo, Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown. Jalen Brunson secured the last starting position in the East, surpassing my selection of Donovan Mitchell, while Stephen Curry edged out Anthony Edwards for the West.
Reserve Selections
While none of these outcomes were particularly surprising, if Brunson and Curry hadn’t made the starting roster, they would have been top choices for my reserves. For my hypothetical reserve squad, which is for entertainment purposes only and carries no weight in the actual All-Star selection process, Mitchell and Antetokounmpo take precedence. Coaches ultimately decide who fills out each conference’s reserve spots.
Here’s my selection of seven standout players from each conference, keeping in mind that the league’s recent All-Star updates allow for flexibility in position choices during selection: expect a few extras as we consider potential injury replacements as well.
Western Conference Selections
- Anthony Edwards, Timberwolves
- Kevin Durant, Rockets
- Kawhi Leonard, Clippers
- Chet Holmgren, Thunder
- Jamal Murray, Nuggets
- Deni Avdija, Trail Blazers
- Jimmy Butler, Warriors (injury replacement)
- Devin Booker, Suns (injury replacement)
I previously advocated for Edwards as a starter. At 37 years old, Durant continues to astound with his offensive prowess, averaging 26.4 points alongside 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists while contributing to the Rockets’ impressive offensive ranking. Despite a tough start to the season, the Clippers have rediscovered their form, largely thanks to Leonard’s leadership. Currently, he’s posting a career-high 28.1 points and leads the league in steals, all while excelling in advanced metrics, showcasing his significance in the league.
While there were rumors of salary cap irregularities involving Leonard and the Clippers, his on-court performance remains exceptional, compelling fans to focus on his skills. Moving on to first-time selections, Holmgren has made significant strides in his third season as both a scorer and defender for a top NBA team. Jamal Murray is on track for his first All-Star nod, especially after stepping up in the absence of his long-time teammate by averaging career-best statistics.
Avdija has displayed immense growth in Portland, cementing his role as a dual-threat player who is contributing considerably to the Blazers’ push for relevance in the playoffs. While Butler’s injury will force a change in roster, I see him as a deserving candidate if not for his recent setback, likely leading to Booker stepping in after a standout season. Şengün also belongs in the conversation as a core component of Houston’s offensive and defensive strategy.
Eastern Conference Selections
- Donovan Mitchell, Cavaliers
- Scottie Barnes, Raptors
- Jalen Duren, Pistons
- Jalen Johnson, Hawks
- Karl-Anthony Towns, Knicks
- Norman Powell, Heat
- Derrick White, Celtics
- Pascal Siakam, Pacers (injury replacement)
Mitchell is another player deserving of a spotlight, especially with the performances leading to his selection as a starter. Barnes is a key player in the Raptors’ unexpected rise, providing contributions across the board. Duren stands out in a more significant role for the Pistons, making them a contender in defense while displaying impressive offensive numbers.
Johnson, making a successful comeback from injury, is now an integral part of a Hawks team that remains competitive without Trae Young. Even with criticisms surrounding his performance, Towns still leads in rebounds and scoring for a competitive Knicks side.
Powell has demonstrated career-best averages in Miami, joining the ranks of others who are showing remarkable improvements. Derrick White’s versatility and defensive skills also make him an essential part of the Celtics’ success this season. If injury issues on other top players force changes, Siakam shines through as a symbol of resilience, contributing significantly even while facing tough times with his team.
Conclusion
In summary, the path to the All-Star game is layered with competition and countless deserving candidates. As selections finalize with potential injuries affecting team lineups, players like Adebayo and Mobley are likely to come into the conversation, enhancing the overall excitement of the All-Star Game.
