Nashville Predators Unveil New Broadcasting Arrangement
In a recent development following the shutdown of Main Street Sports Group LLC, the Nashville Predators have unveiled their new broadcasting arrangement for the upcoming 2026-27 NHL season. The team has secured a multi-year agreement with Scripps Sports, which will allow fans in the Middle Tennessee area to watch games without a subscription, as they will be broadcast over-the-air. This agreement entails coverage of all preseason contests, regular-season games, and the first round of playoffs.
Broadcasting Details
While Scripps also operates WTVF NewsChannel 5, the Predators’ games will air on a different channel, WNPX, also known as The Spot – Nashville 28. This initiative will enable fans to access Predators games for free through a local station, making hockey more accessible to the community. In addition to traditional broadcasts, supporters can look forward to a streaming experience via the team’s upcoming live-streaming app as well as the Tablo platform, which allows for over-the-air DVR capabilities.
Statements from Scripps Sports
Brian Lawlor, the president of Scripps Sports, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting Nashville’s rich hockey culture. “It’s a thrill to become the broadcast partner for the Nashville Predators. This collaboration is designed to maximize accessibility, ensuring that more fans can engage with the games,” Lawlor stated in a press release.
Enhanced Viewing Options
As part of this agreement, a direct-to-consumer feature will enable fans in the local broadcast territory to livestream games, further enhancing their viewing options. The Nashville Predators now join an exclusive group, becoming the fifth NHL team to sign on with Scripps Sports, alongside others such as the Vegas Golden Knights and the Tampa Bay Lightning, which signifies a growing trend of regional partnerships in sports broadcasting.
