Naoya Inoue to face Murodjon Akhmadaliev for title defense on September 14

Naoya Inoue Prepares for Title Defense

Naoya Inoue, known as “The Monster,” is preparing for his next big challenge in the boxing ring as he gears up to defend his undisputed super bantamweight championship against Murodjon Akhmadaliev. This high-stakes match is scheduled for September 14, 2025, at the newly inaugurated Aichi International Arena located in Nagoya, Japan. The bout comes just a day after Canelo Alvarez‘s super middleweight title defense against Terence Crawford in Las Vegas, adding to an exciting weekend for boxing fans.

Match Details and Fighter Records

The details of the match were unveiled during a Thursday press conference organized by Ohashi Promotions in Japan. Inoue, maintaining an impressive undefeated record of 30 wins, 27 of which are knockouts, recently made headlines with a spectacular 8th round knockout of Ramon Cardenas in May, displaying his formidable fighting skills. Earlier this year, he also achieved a notable knockout victory over Kim Ye-Joon in January.

On the other hand, Akhmadaliev, a former unified super bantamweight titleholder, holds a professional record of 14 wins, including 11 by knockout, and just one loss. He has rebounded strongly after a close split decision defeat to Marlon Tapales last year, demonstrating his prowess with three consecutive knockout wins, including a recent victory over Luis Castillo in May.

Future Plans and Co-Main Event

Looking ahead, Inoue has plans for further competition before the year concludes, with a fourth fight on the horizon. Should he manage to successfully defend his title against Akhmadaliev, a potential matchup with David Picasso is on the cards for December 27 in Saudi Arabia, contingent on Picasso’s fight against Kyonosuke Kameda on July 19.

In the co-main event of the same night, fans can expect to see Yoshiki Takei (11-0, 9 KOs) put his WBO 118-pound belt on the line against challenger Christian Medina (25-4, 18 KOs), further adding excitement to this lineup of boxers ready to showcase their skills.
