Montreal Canadiens Promote Adam Engstrom

In a strategic move, the Montreal Canadiens have promoted defenseman Adam Engstrom from their AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, to join their roster. Engstrom, who has participated in 11 games with the Canadiens this season, has yet to score any points but has contributed defensively with four hits and five blocks, accumulating a total of six penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating.

Engstrom’s Performance in the AHL

This call-up comes as Engstrom’s performance with Laval has been notably impressive. In 45 games this AHL season, he has netted 10 goals and provided 24 assists, culminating in 34 points along with a commendable plus-14 rating. Last season, he tallied five goals and 22 assists over 66 games, achieving a similar plus-14 rating, which further showcases his growth as a player.

Future Potential

The 22-year-old was drafted 92nd overall by the Canadiens in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and has shown significant potential as a future NHL defenseman. Throughout his career in the AHL, spanning 111 games, Engstrom has recorded 15 goals and 46 assists for a total of 61 points, alongside an impressive plus-28 rating.

As he steps onto the NHL stage once more, all eyes will be on him to see how he can impact the Canadiens’ defense as they push through the season.
