Mavericks Conclude Cooper Flagg’s Summer League Journey After Two Appearances

Dallas Mavericks End Cooper Flagg’s Summer League Participation

The Dallas Mavericks have made the decision to end Cooper Flagg‘s participation in the NBA summer league, as confirmed by sources to Tim MacMahon of ESPN. This development comes after Flagg, the highly touted No. 1 overall draft pick, showcased his potential in only two games during the Las Vegas event.

Flagg’s Performance Highlights

In his last outing, Flagg delivered an impressive performance against the San Antonio Spurs, scoring 31 points and demonstrating significant improvement from his initial game against the Los Angeles Lakers, where he had struggled to score only 10 points with a shooting accuracy of just 24%.

Reflecting on his recent game, Flagg noted, “It’s a new environment, new setting. They want to see me be aggressive, and I think I did that a lot better today. I was able to get to the line and draw fouls, which helped me find my rhythm.”

Despite his strong showing, he acknowledged his missed free throws, joking that his mother might not have been pleased with that aspect of his game.

Coaching Praise

The head coach for the Mavericks’ summer league team, Josh Broghamer, commended Flagg for consistently making smart plays and highlighted his effective off-the-ball movements.

The initial report about the Mavericks’ decision to hold Flagg out for the remainder of the summer league was made by veteran NBA journalist Marc Stein on Sunday.
