NHL Announces Three Stars of the Week
In a special announcement made on Monday, the National Hockey League (NHL) unveiled the standout players for the week ending March 1. Topping the list are Matthew Schaefer of the New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Arturs Silovs, and Matt Boldy, the talented winger from the Minnesota Wild, all recognized as the “Three Stars” of the week, sponsored by GEICO.
Matt Boldy’s Impressive Performance
At just 24 years old, Boldy has continued to impress after his recent success at the Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina 2026, where he led Team USA to a gold medal. Over the course of three games, he notched an impressive tally of three goals and four assists, totaling seven points, which placed him at the forefront of the NHL’s scoring for the week.
Boldy’s performance has been consistently stellar, as he has managed to register points in nine consecutive outings dating back to January 24, amassing 18 points (8 goals and 10 assists) during this period alone. Currently, he ranks second in the league for goals with 35 and is positioned ninth in overall scoring with 69 points across 57 games this season (35 goals, 34 assists).
Prior to the Olympic break, Boldy was honored as the NHL’s first star of the week, having achieved three goals and three assists within just two games.
