Upcoming Boxing Event: Browne vs. Glanton
In a significant shift in the lineup for an upcoming boxing event, Marcus Browne, a former world title contender, will take the place of Rocky Fielding to battle Brandon Glanton on October 1 in Lagos, Nigeria. This change comes after Fielding, who holds a record of 30 wins and 3 losses with 18 knockouts, opted out of the Amir Khan-promoted event, raising questions about his future in the sport following a loss to Dan Azeez in December 2022.
Marcus Browne’s Comeback
Browne, a Staten Island native with a professional record of 25-2 and 16 KOs, is stepping into the ring on just five weeks’ notice. At 34 years old, Browne’s boxing activity has dwindled, having fought only four times over the past six years. His most notable victory was against Badou Jack at the MGM Grand, which marked a high point in his career. However, he faced setbacks, including stoppage losses to notable opponents like Jean Pascal and Artur Beterbiev, with the latter being his last world title shot in December 2021.
After a transition to the cruiserweight division in 2022, Browne secured a points win over Adrian Taylor last August, but has not seen action since that bout, as a planned match against Olanrewaju Durodola in June fell through due to medical issues.
Brandon Glanton’s Recent Performance
On the other end, Glanton, who holds a record of 20 wins, 3 losses, and 17 knockouts, is looking to rebound from a twelve-round decision loss to Chris Billam-Smith at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April. Both fighters bring a level of intensity to the bout, underscored by their history, which has been described as “unfinished business” by Amir Khan Promotions.
“The main event is set. Brandon ‘Bulletproof’ Glanton faces Marcus Browne in a bad-blood showdown years in the making.”
This highly anticipated fight will take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, accompanied by other matches featuring Andrew Tabiti and former IBF champion Richard Commey.
