Manny Pacquiao Gears Up for Possible December Fight at MGM Grand

Manny Pacquiao’s Comeback and Future Plans

Manny Pacquiao is actively preparing for a second bout following his recent comeback defeat to Mario Barrios, with plans for a December fight taking shape. Fresh from a vacation in Italy with his wife Jinkee, the legendary Filipino boxer has jumped back into training just days after his 12-round match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“I had a wonderful time during my vacation, but now it’s back to business,” Pacquiao stated, referring to his break spent enjoying the scenic Amalfi Coast and Positano.

He emphasized his commitment by mentioning, “I have no distractions; even on Sundays, I go to church and then focus on training.”

Performance Review and Future Opponents

At 46, Pacquiao expressed satisfaction with his performance against Barrios despite a lengthy hiatus from the ring and only two months of preparation. “I felt good, but there’s definitely room for improvement in speed, timing, and the volume of punches,” he noted, “It was a challenge to go twelve rounds against a younger fighter, but I managed.”

Following a thorough review of the match, he is keen on refining his skills in anticipation of another fight this year, aiming for a return around December.

Three potential opponents are currently being evaluated to challenge him, with a world title shot as the primary goal. However, Pacquiao is also open to facing Gervonta “Tank” Davis, indicating that this matchup holds special significance for him. A rematch with Davis, the current WBC welterweight champion, could provide Pacquiao an opportunity to reclaim his standing.

Adding more excitement to the scenario, Davis has been noted as the only fighter Pacquiao would consider without a title on the line.

Fans have long awaited a blockbuster showdown between Pacquiao and Davis, which would undoubtedly attract global attention.

Moreover, rising star Rolando Romero, often referred to as “Rolly,” has expressed interest in securing a match with Pacquiao, which could spice up the lead-up with his dynamic persona and engaging pre-fight banter.

Reflections and Recovery

Reflecting on his history at the MGM Grand, where he has made more appearances than any other fighter, Pacquiao felt a swell of pride.

“Being recognized with a banner for my achievements at the MGM is something special,”

he said, recalling the support of his family cheering him on.

Now back in Manila, Pacquiao focuses on recovery, enjoying some golf, and light jogging as he navigates his next steps. With a firm determination in mind, a potential return to the ring in December is no longer just a distant possibility, but rather a forthcoming reality.
