Manchester United secures Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers

Manchester United Signs Matheus Cunha

Manchester United has officially announced that they have struck a deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the acquisition of Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward has committed to a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the possibility of extending for an additional year.

Transfer Details

While his visa and registration process is set to be finalized after he returns from international duties later this month, the transfer will be formally completed at that time.

“This marks Cunha as Manchester United’s inaugural signing for the upcoming summer transfer window.”

Previously reported on May 27, Wolves granted Cunha the green light for a medical evaluation with United. The forward had a release clause valued at £62.5 million ($83.7 million), which United fulfilled during negotiations on Tuesday, opting for a structured payment over five years instead of the standard two.

Player Background and Expectations

Cunha, who is 26, is enthusiastic about this opportunity after spending two and a half seasons with Wolves. His addition comes as a strategic measure for United, aiming to reinforce their attacking options. Last season, the club’s top scorers in the Premier League, Bruno Fernandes and Amad, could only manage eight goals each, highlighting the need for a boost in this area.
