Manchester United Faces Crystal Palace Without Cunha, Sesko, and Maguire

Manchester United’s Upcoming Match Against Crystal Palace

As Manchester United prepares to face Crystal Palace this Sunday, manager Ruben Amorim will have to contend with the absence of several key players, including Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Harry Maguire.

Player Injuries and Recovery Updates

Cunha is missing in action due to a head injury he sustained during a training session just before the match against Everton, which saw him withdraw at the last minute. Although he won’t participate at Selhurst Park, Amorim is optimistic about Cunha’s prospects for returning in time for the following week’s encounter with West Ham.

On the other hand, both Sesko and Maguire are expected to remain sidelined for a more extended period. In a press conference on Friday, Amorim provided an update on their recovery, stating:

“I anticipate bringing Matheus back for the next match, but not this one. Sesko will require more time, and the same goes for Harry.”

When probed about whether Sesko had encountered any setbacks in his rehabilitation from a knee issue, the manager clarified that while progress is slow, they are diligently managing the injury.

Team Performance and Challenges

Heading into this match, United has faced difficulty finding form in away fixtures, recording only one victory on the road in the Premier League this season. Their performance has been inconsistent; despite controlling matches against teams like Nottingham Forest and Tottenham, they have struggled to maintain their lead and often finished with draws due to late-game collapses.

United’s lone away victory came against Liverpool back in October, with their last league win on the road prior to that dating all the way back to March against Leicester City. Amorim acknowledged the team’s challenges, saying:

“It’s tough to pinpoint the exact reasons for our struggles away from home. We’ve encountered numerous issues. Looking back at our matches, I believe we should have accumulated more points given the situations we controlled or led in, which is deeply disappointing, especially considering our recent loss to Everton.”
