Manchester United’s Preseason Tour Exclusions
Manchester United is reportedly planning to exclude four players from their upcoming preseason tour in the United States, according to ESPN sources. Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho are all on the transfer list and have been training separately from the main squad at Carrington. As the team prepares to depart for Chicago on Tuesday, these four individuals will remain in Manchester.
Management Decisions and Player Relationships
This decision reflects the club’s support for head coach Ruben Amorim, who has determined that they do not fit into his plans. Garnering attention last summer, Jadon Sancho had an uneasy relationship with former manager Erik ten Hag but managed to travel with the squad despite a notable clash. In contrast, the current management has opted to sideline Garnacho, Malacia, Sancho, and Antony to minimize potential distractions during their brief three-game tour across the United States.
Transfer Market Activity
The club is reportedly open to selling these players for reduced prices as the summer transfer deadline approaches. Antony, who previously enjoyed a productive loan at Real Betis, has caught the attention of clubs like Atlético Madrid, while Juventus has also expressed interest in Jadon Sancho.
As for Garnacho, it has been suggested that he prefers to remain within the Premier League; although Manchester United sought around £70 million for him in January, they may now consider offers nearer to £40 million.
Marcus Rashford’s Loan Agreement
Meanwhile, United has already finalized an agreement for Marcus Rashford to join Barcelona on loan, with the Spanish club covering his full wage and retaining the option to secure a permanent transfer for approximately €30 million next summer. Rashford was spotted arriving in Barcelona over the weekend to formalize this deal and has not played for United since December, having spent part of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
