Manchester United’s Consideration of Rasmus Højlund
Sources have informed ESPN that Manchester United is considering offers for striker Rasmus Højlund. Despite being committed to his role at Old Trafford, Højlund, who was acquired from Atalanta for an initial fee of £64 million in 2025, is subject to potential bids as United explores new attacking options.
Striker Search and Competition
The club is actively pursuing a new forward, with notable interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. While Højlund has three years remaining on his contract, his performance last season, which included only four goals in the Premier League, has not deterred other clubs from taking an interest in him. His name has appeared in discussions regarding teams such as Serie A sides Napoli and Juventus, along with Leipzig.
Højlund’s Commitment
Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Højlund clarified his intentions following a goal in a recent friendly match against Bournemouth, celebrating a 4-1 victory.
“I think the most important thing for me is just to keep working hard and stay focused and then obviously we’ll see what happens. My plan is very clear — I want to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens,”
he stated.
Transfer Window Dynamics
The situation is further complicated by Newcastle United, who have submitted a formal bid of around £70 million for Sesko, which has heightened competition for Manchester United’s striker search. Meanwhile, United’s management is confident they can invest in a new player without necessitating departures in this transfer window, a strategy that may include keeping Højlund in the squad despite ongoing conversations with several interested parties.
Ruben Amorim, the head coach, has not commented extensively on Højlund’s prospects but the club continues to evaluate its options as the transfer window progresses.
