New Kit Unveiling for the FIFA Club World Cup
As excitement builds for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup taking place in the United States, Manchester City has unveiled a striking new kit specifically designed for the event. This special-edition kit incorporates a nostalgic sash design, reminiscent of past jerseys, which the club has also adopted for its upcoming 2025-26 home kit.
Kit Details and Design Collaboration
In a unique move, Manchester City has introduced two versions of its Club World Cup kit: one for outfield players and another for goalkeepers. Both kits prominently feature an updated interpretation of the club’s iconic diagonal sash, which fans will recognize from previous seasons. The design was created in partnership with Puma and New York’s KidSuper, a streetwear brand known for its bold and vibrant style.
KidSuper has been tasked with crafting custom designs for several clubs participating in this year’s tournament, including Borussia Dortmund, RB Salzburg, Monterrey, Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Hilal, and Palmeiras.
Alternative to Traditional Home Jersey
The specially designed kit will serve as an alternative to City’s traditional sky-blue home jersey, which was announced just last month. Among the players showcasing the new design is Rodri, who has recently returned to fitness after an extended absence.
Interestingly, Jack Grealish was also featured in the promotional material, despite reports from ESPN suggesting that he might not make the squad for the tournament due to managerial decisions surrounding his future at the club, pending a potential summer transfer.
Unique Features of the Kit
The outfield version of the jersey is predominantly white and features a striking dual-tone sash in red and black. For goalkeepers, the kit presents a vibrant orange design, with the sash rendered in bold black and yellow, colors that many long-time supporters will find nostalgic.
The innovative sash appears to be hand-drawn, giving it a unique character, while the fabric is adorned with a subtle graphic motif depicting fans engaging in the iconic “Poznan” dance, a celebration that involves the crowd turning away from the pitch and bouncing together.
First Appearance on the Global Stage
Manchester City is set to unveil this eye-catching kit during their second group match against Al-Ain in Atlanta on June 22, marking the first appearance of this fresh design on the global stage.
