Manchester United Preseason Tour Update
Harry Maguire will not be part of Manchester United’s preseason tour in the United States due to a personal issue, as reported by sources close to the club. The defender was absent from the team’s travel to Chicago on Tuesday; however, there is optimism that he may join the squad later during the tour.
Player Transfers and Injuries
In terms of other players, notable names such as Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia have been left out as the club is engaged in negotiations to transfer them away from Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martínez will be traveling with the squad despite not participating in training or matches due to an ongoing recovery from a knee injury sustained back in February. His trip to the U.S. is intended for rehabilitation.
Additionally, new signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are included in the squad. Mbeumo, who finalized his transfer from Brentford earlier this week, is poised to potentially make his debut in a match against West Ham this Saturday in New Jersey.
Goalkeeper Update
Goalkeeper André Onana, who previously missed the goalless match against Leeds in Stockholm due to a hamstring issue, is also part of the touring party. He has resumed training, and reports indicate that his recovery is on track, although it is considered unlikely that he will fully regain fitness in time before the conclusion of the tour.
Upcoming Matches
The tour includes matches against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton, leading up to the start of the Premier League season, where Manchester United will face Arsenal at Old Trafford on August 17.
