Lukas Reichel’s Commitment to the Boston Bruins
Lukas Reichel, who was drafted in the first round by the Chicago Blackhawks, has officially committed to remaining with the Boston Bruins for the upcoming 2026-27 season through a one-year, two-way contract extension. This new agreement sees Reichel’s cap hit reduced from $1.2 million, which he earned over the previous two seasons, to $950,000 for this upcoming year.
Reichel’s Tumultuous Journey
The 23-year-old forward’s journey in the 2025-26 season was quite tumultuous, featuring a trade from the Blackhawks to the Vancouver Canucks early in the campaign. Subsequently, he joined the Bruins prior to the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline, making it a unique season where he bounced between three NHL teams. During this time, he also played for both the Abbotsford Canucks and Providence Bruins in the AHL.
Looking Ahead
Reichel is now setting his sights on solidifying his position within the Bruins’ forward lineup as he seeks greater stability after a challenging start to his NHL career. Drafted with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, he was once regarded as one of Chicago’s most promising talents. Over the course of 174 games with the Blackhawks, he recorded 22 goals and 36 assists, totaling 58 points.
With this contract extension, Reichel hopes to reclaim his place as a pivotal contributor to Boston’s offensive strategy.
