Luis Diaz expresses desire to leave Liverpool as Bayern Munich’s €67.5 million bid is rejected

Bayern Munich’s Bid for Luis Diaz

Bayern Munich has officially made a move to acquire Colombian winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool, submitting a bid valued at €67.5 million (£58.6 million) earlier this week. This approach comes as Bayern looks to strengthen their squad, but the Premier League champions have swiftly turned down the offer.

Liverpool’s Stance on Diaz

Liverpool reportedly holds a steadfast valuation of Diaz, expecting to receive no less than €100 million, a figure they assert is more a reflection of their accounting strategy than a realistic sales figure.

Currently, Diaz is in the last two years of his contract with Liverpool, and although he has communicated his desire to leave the club, no contract discussions regarding an extension have been initiated thus far. Liverpool insists that Diaz remains a crucial component in their plans for the upcoming seasons and has reiterated this position to Bayern, as well as other interested clubs like Barcelona.

Diaz’s Impact at Liverpool

Since joining Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for an initial fee of £37.5 million— which could potentially increase to £50 million through add-ons—Diaz has made a significant impact with 148 appearances, during which he has netted 41 goals and provided 23 assists across all competitions. He particularly shone in the recent 2024-25 Premier League season, contributing 13 goals in 36 matches to help secure the title under manager Arne Slot.
