BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (AP) — On Thursday evening, the No. 6 ranked LSU Tigers achieved a decisive victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks, finishing the game with a score of 92-70. This win marked the Tigers’ sixth consecutive triumph within the Southeastern Conference, improving their overall record to 20-2 and their conference standing to 6-2.

Key Performances

Despite a challenging first half where LSU held only a narrow three-point lead at halftime, key performances from Flau’jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams, who each contributed 17 points, helped propel the team to victory. Reserve player Kate Koval also made significant contributions, scoring 12 points and snagging a season-high 15 rebounds, marking her sixth double-double this season. Grace Knox and Jada Richard each added 12 points, while ZaKiyah Johnson chipped in with 11 points for the Tigers.

Arkansas Razorbacks’ Struggles

Arkansas, struggling this season with a conference record of 0-7 and an overall record of 11-11, was led by Taleyah Jones, who netted 23 points. Jenna Lawrence contributed 12 points, with Bonnie Deas and Maria Anais Rodriguez each scoring 11 points.

Game Highlights

The Razorbacks showed competitive spirit early in the game, taking a 15-8 lead after making six of their first nine shots, including three 3-pointers. In response, LSU coach Kim Mulkey replaced all her starters just moments after, allowing the bench, including Johnson and Koval, to spark a 14-7 run that leveled the score at 22-22 by the end of the first quarter.

The Tigers reinstated four of their starters early in the second quarter, and fueled by Williams’ impressive shooting, LSU was able to establish an eight-point lead with two minutes remaining before the break, ultimately leading to a 36-33 score at halftime.

After a rocky first half where they struggled with shooting—missing 15 of 22 layups—LSU flourished in the third quarter. They unleashed an 18-3 run within the first four and a half minutes, making six of their first eight shots, including all three attempts from beyond the arc, widening their lead to 54-36.
