St. Louis Blues Secure Logan Mailloux
In a noteworthy move announced during their recent 3-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, the St. Louis Blues confirmed that they have secured defenseman Logan Mailloux with a one-year contract extension worth $850,000. The 22-year-old blue liner, weighing 212 pounds and standing at 6-foot-3, joined the Blues in July 2025 after a trade with the Montreal Canadiens involving forward Zack Bolduc.
Mailloux’s Performance This Season
As of now, Mailloux has appeared in 32 games this season, accumulating a total of two points from one goal and one assist. His ice time peaked at a season-high of 20:01 in the previous match against the Vegas Golden Knights, largely due to the adverse situation arising from Philip Broberg’s exit from that game, which left the Blues to play with just five defensemen.
Blues head coach Jim Montgomery praised Mailloux’s recent performance, stating, “I thought last game might have been his best of the year, showing poise with the puck and really finding his rhythm while getting extra minutes due to Broberg’s misfortune. The more ice time young players receive, the more comfortable they become, and those opportunities can be hard to come by at this level. To gain those extra minutes, they have to earn it and prove themselves on the ice.”
Career Overview
Throughout his time in the NHL thus far, Mailloux has recorded seven points (three goals and four assists) in a total of 40 regular-season games. He was originally drafted by the Canadiens in the first round, being the 31st overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Challenges for Young Players
Montgomery also shed light on the adjustment young players like Mailloux face when transitioning to the NHL, unlike their previous collegiate experiences, where they might have only traveled to different time zones a few times a season. Focusing on players like Jimmy Snuggerud, he noted that while some assimilate quickly, many must adapt to the unique demands of professional travel schedules and recovery processes.
