Liverpool’s New Season Jersey Assignments
In a significant development ahead of the new season, Liverpool has announced that their recent acquisition, Florian Wirtz, will don the iconic No. 7 jersey. This move follows the transfer of Luis Díaz to German club Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £65.5 million (approximately $86 million).
Wirtz, who arrived from Bayer Leverkusen in a record transfer valued at £100 million earlier this June, will take over the number previously worn by the Colombian international.
Other New Signings and Number Assignments
Adding depth to their squad, Liverpool has also revealed the shirt numbers for other new signings:
- Milos Kerkez, acquired from Bournemouth, will wear the No. 6.
- Jeremie Frimpong has opted for the No. 30, replicating the number he wore at Bayer Leverkusen.
- Hugo Ekitike, who made the switch from Eintracht Frankfurt recently, has been assigned the No. 22 jersey.
- In the goalkeeping section, the new recruit Giorgi Mamardashvili will sport the No. 25, while Freddie Woodman will take No. 28 and Armin Pecsi has been allocated No. 41.
Changes to Existing Numbers
Additionally, some players have made changes to their existing numbers:
- Defender Conor Bradley is moving from No. 84 to No. 12.
- Midfielder Trey Nyoni is transitioning from No. 98 to No. 42.
This shake-up reflects the club’s endeavors to reconfigure the squad in light of fresh talent joining the ranks as they prepare for the upcoming competitions.
