Liverpool’s Interest in Marc Guéhi
Liverpool Football Club has made an official approach to acquire Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace, as reported by an ESPN source. The proposed fee for the England international defender stands at £35 million, equivalent to approximately $47.2 million. While the Premier League champions are awaiting a response to their offer, it’s been indicated that Guéhi would be amenable to the transfer since his contract is set to expire next summer.
Potential Impact on Liverpool’s Defense
If the transfer materializes, the 25-year-old would bolster Liverpool’s defense alongside a strong lineup featuring Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, Joe Gomez, and Giovanni Leoni.
Crystal Palace’s Response
In a press conference this Friday, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner emphasized the importance of retaining Guéhi, particularly with the transfer window closing soon.
“As of now, on Friday, and with the deadline on Monday, it is imperative that he remains with us. Finding a suitable replacement for someone of Guéhi’s caliber who can immediately contribute in the Premier League is a daunting task. We have built a strong foundation for our recent successes, largely thanks to our defensive capabilities. Glasner commented. He expressed concern that acquiring a fitting substitute before the window shuts is highly unlikely, reflecting Guéhi’s pivotal role in the team’s structure.
