Lewis O’Brien Transfers to Wrexham
Lewis O’Brien has officially transferred from Nottingham Forest to Championship newcomers Wrexham in a significant shift for the talented midfielder. At 26 years old, he embarked on a purgative journey since joining Forest in the summer of 2022, completing a £10 million move from Huddersfield Town, which simultaneously saw Harry Toffolo head to the City Ground.
O’Brien’s Time at Nottingham Forest
During his time with Forest, O’Brien made a total of 17 appearances, including six in the Premier League. His tenure was marked by multiple loan arrangements with clubs like DC United, Middlesbrough, Los Angeles FC, and Swansea City, as he struggled for regular first-team action. Under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo, he found himself sidelined and ultimately deemed surplus to requirements as Forest geared up for their fourth season in the Premier League.
Joining Wrexham
Now, with aspirations of settling down, O’Brien has joined Wrexham, a club that is gearing up for their first foray into the second tier in four decades following their third consecutive promotion. Expressing his excitement, O’Brien stated on Wrexham’s official platform:
“I’m absolutely buzzing. It’s been a long time coming, but to be here is great. The last couple of years has been a whirlwind for me and my family, but to sign a long-term contract and find somewhere I can call home is a great feeling.”
O’Brien also noted the ambition of the Welsh club, managed by Phil Parkinson, and expressed a desire to contribute to Wrexham’s growing journey, stating:
“After speaking to everyone here, it’s a club with a lot of ambition. I want to be part of that journey, and take Wrexham to where they want to be.”
His prior Championship experience with three different clubs will be seen as a valuable addition to Wrexham as they look to solidify their new status.
