Legendary NHL Star Jaromir Jagr Kicks Off 38th Season at 53 with Kladno Knights

Jaromir Jagr’s Return to Competitive Hockey

In a remarkable return to competitive hockey, Jaromir Jagr, an iconic figure from the NHL, took to the ice for the Kladno Knights this past Friday, marking the commencement of his 38th professional season. At the age of 53 years and nearly 245 days, he contributed to his team’s 3-1 victory over Vitkovice in the Czech hockey league.

Performance Highlights

Jagr, who started his career with Kladno at just 16, played on the fourth line and logged over 10 minutes of playtime, including a spot on the power play, in a performance that followed a brief delay due to a muscle issue.

Career Achievements

Having established himself as one of the sport’s all-time greats, Jagr holds the distinction of being the second highest scorer in NHL history, trailing only Wayne Gretzky. His impressive record boasts 766 goals, placing him fourth on the all-time scoring list. Jagr’s illustrious career includes two Stanley Cup championships with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the early ’90s, spanning 11 seasons with the team.

Team Dynamics and Future Aspirations

Despite his remarkable achievements, Jagr did not interact with the media following the game. Teammate Jakub Konecny expressed the positive impact Jagr has had on the squad, noting the fun atmosphere he brings into the locker room.

Until recently, Jagr balanced his on-ice responsibilities with roles in ownership and team management after acquiring full ownership of the Kladno club in 2017. However, he sold a majority share in January as part of a strategy to secure financial stability for Kladno, expressing a desire to guide the team to playoff contention after they fell short the previous season. With renewed hope, Jagr is determined to lead Kladno to a successful playoff run this time around.
