Declining English Managerial Representation
As the new season of the Premier League approaches, the landscape for English managerial representation appears bleak. Projections indicate that only three English head coaches are likely to be present next season. This figure is strikingly low, considering that the historical minimum has always been six coaches participating in a full league campaign.
Impact on the Championship
The trend of declining English representation is not limited to the Premier League; in the Championship, less than 50% of the coaching staff is English. Furthermore, out of the 96 clubs within Europe’s premier leagues, only four English coaches are currently leading teams:
Eddie Howe, Scott Parker, Graham Potter, and Liam Rosenior of Strasbourg.
