The Laval Rocket Training Camp Roster Announcement
The Laval Rocket, affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens in the American Hockey League (AHL), has announced an impressive roster of invitees for its upcoming training camp. This year, the club has set a notable precedent by including seven players who were part of the Trois-Rivières Lions, the reigning Kelly Cup Champions. The players are:
- Cedric Desruisseaux
- Logan Nijhoff
- Jacob Paquette
- Wyatt McLeod
- Emmett Serensits
- Jacob Dion
- Vincent Duplessis
Player Highlights
Cedric Desruisseaux, hailing from Warwick, is heading into his third AHL training camp. His prior experience includes participating in the Rocket’s camp in 2021, receiving a notable invite from the Montreal Canadiens the same year, and attending the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ camp the following season. Last season, he played 39 games for the Lions, contributing significantly to their championship run.
Logan Nijhoff is returning for his second training camp with the Rocket and has now participated in five consecutive AHL camps. His journey includes previous invitations to camps with the San Diego Gulls and Rockford IceHogs in 2021 and 2023, respectively. After securing a new contract with the Lions this summer, Nijhoff ended last season as one of the team’s top scorers, tied at 25 goals alongside Anthony Beauregard and Jakov Novak.
Defender Jacob Paquette will also partake in his second camp with Laval. The Ottawa native has a rich background that includes time at Nashville Predators’ camps in 2017 and 2018, along with attending the Columbus Blue Jackets’ rookie camp in 2019. Last season, Paquette stood out in the ECHL, posting an impressive +32 plus/minus rating, placing him among the top in the league.
Wyatt McLeod is set to return for his second AHL camp as well. Earlier this year, he participated in the Chicago Wolves’ camp, showcasing his potential before joining the Lions for the current season after signing a fresh contract in September.
First-time AHL camp attendees Emmett Serensits, Jacob Dion, and Vincent Duplessis bring additional excitement to the Rocket’s lineup. Serensits joined the Lions at the conclusion of last season and appeared in ten regular-season games under the guidance of head coach Ron Choules. Jacob Dion is preparing for his first professional season, while Vincent Duplessis comes from a stint with the Utah Grizzlies, an affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
Upcoming Events
The Trois-Rivières Lions’ training camp is scheduled to commence next Tuesday, October 7, at Colisée Vidéotron, shortly after the Rocket’s camp concludes, signaling an exciting time ahead for both teams as they gear up for the upcoming AHL season.
