Laporta confirms Barcelona satisfied with transfers, rules out new signings

FC Barcelona’s Summer Transfer Activity

Joan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona, has announced that the club is satisfied with its transfer activity this summer, concluding with the signing of Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United. Following Rashford’s addition, which marks the third player to join the team this transfer window—alongside goalkeeper Joan García and young talent Roony Bardghji—Laporta expressed that no additional acquisitions are anticipated.

“We’ve achieved all our goals for the current season,”

he communicated to Mundo Deportivo.

Roster Adjustments and Financial Management

In terms of roster adjustments, Laporta clarified that while future moves will depend on player exits, the club is not under pressure to transfer any players they would prefer to retain to comply with LaLiga’s financial fair play regulations. This assurance came following news of forward Pau Víctor‘s transfer to Braga in Portugal, which could net Barcelona up to €15 million (approximately $17.6 million).

“There will be reductions in wage expenses as a result of this shift,”

Laporta remarked, just before Víctor’s exit was officially announced. He also mentioned that although other players may leave, including Pablo Torre who recently moved to Mallorca, significant departures are not expected, despite some tempting offers.

Team Cohesion and Future Plans

Laporta emphasized the importance of maintaining team cohesion.

“We aim to preserve the strong team spirit established last season, which has resonated well with our supporters, ensuring the continuation of that special connection.”

He refrained from discussing specific players but acknowledged the necessity of making adjustments due to an overabundance in some positions.

Adhering to LaLiga’s Fiscal Guidelines

Regarding Barcelona’s efforts to adhere to LaLiga’s fiscal guidelines, Laporta indicated the need to manage wage costs more effectively and hinted at further strategic initiatives the club is pursuing.

Upcoming Matches

The team recently traveled to Japan as part of their Asian tour and is set to play their inaugural match against Vissel Kobe. Rashford, García, and Bardghji are all anticipated to make their debuts, alongside an array of young players that head coach Hansi Flick has enlisted for evaluation during this trip.
