Lamine Yamal of Barcelona aims for multiple Ballon d’Or titles

Ambitions of Lamine Yamal

In a recent podcast interview, Lamine Yamal from FC Barcelona expressed his ambition to achieve multiple Ballon d’Or awards throughout his career, emphasizing his belief that his success is ultimately in his own hands. The 18-year-old prodigy, who is already regarded as a strong contender for the prestigious award along with PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé, stated:

“I don’t just dream of winning one Ballon d’Or; I dream of winning many.”

Yamal made this declaration on the podcast Resonancia de Corazón, responding to queries about his aspirations for individual accolades alongside team triumphs.

Impressive Career Start

Having already made over 100 appearances for FC Barcelona, Yamal enjoyed a stellar previous season, netting 18 goals and assisting 25 times as the team clinched LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Supercopa. Starting the current season on a high note, he has already scored twice and provided two assists in just three LaLiga matches.

Despite his young age, he feels a strong responsibility for achieving further personal honors, stating:

“I consider myself capable of winning it, and if I don’t, it’s due to my own shortcomings or lack of effort.”

Looking Ahead

The upcoming Ballon d’Or winner will be announced at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on September 22. While Yamal acknowledges that this year may be a challenge, with Dembélé currently leading the race after his treble-winning season at PSG, as well as competition from names like Vitinha, Raphinha, and Mohamed Salah, he remains undeterred.

Looking ahead to the next year, Yamal is focused on achieving significant goals with both FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, specifically eyeing success in the Champions League and the World Cup. He declared:

“All I want is to keep winning.”

Yamal underscores his commitment to both club and country.
