Los Angeles Lakers Sign Drew Timme

In a recent move to bolster their roster, the Los Angeles Lakers have officially secured Drew Timme, the 6-foot-10 forward, by signing him to a two-way contract. This was confirmed by his agents, Deddrick Faison and Rich Gray, to ESPN’s Shams Charania on Monday.

Impressive Performance in G League

Timme has demonstrated impressive skills this season with the South Bay Lakers, the NBA G League team affiliated with Los Angeles, where he recorded an average of 25.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. His impactful performance during practices, particularly noted when LeBron James was on a rehabilitation stint with South Bay, has drawn attention from multiple sources.

Professional Career Overview

The 25-year-old player began his professional career after going undrafted in 2023, initially signing an Exhibit 10 contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. He participated in their training camp before ultimately playing for the G League’s Wisconsin Herd. Prior to joining the Lakers, Timme had a stint with the Brooklyn Nets, where he averaged 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over nine games, making two starts in the process.

College Achievements

Timme is no stranger to accolades; during his college career at Gonzaga, he was a two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year and holds the distinction of being Gonzaga’s all-time leading scorer, amassing 2,307 points over four years.

Strategic Roster Move

To accommodate Timme on their roster, the Lakers made the decision to waive center Christian Koloko, thereby creating a spot for the burgeoning talent. This strategic move highlights the Lakers’ ongoing efforts to enhance team depth and performance ahead of the upcoming season.
