Kirk Cousins Reaffirms Commitment to Atlanta Falcons
In a recent press interaction, Kirk Cousins expressed his commitment to the Atlanta Falcons, reaffirming his role as a supportive asset for second-year quarterback Michael Penix following a minicamp session. “You’d certainly prefer to be on the field playing,” Cousins remarked, as reported by Tori McElhaney on the team’s official platform. “Yet, I believe it’s pointless to focus on what isn’t feasible—my current reality is different. Therefore, my energy is better spent on embracing the circumstances I face and concentrating on what I can influence. That mindset is crucial.”
Future Focus Amid Trade Speculations
Despite having discussions about a potential trade, Cousins clarified that those conversations have ceased. “We are moving forward now,” he stated, signaling a desire to focus on the present and how he can contribute to the team’s success.
Looking toward the future, Cousins articulated a hopeful vision for the 2025 season: “At this moment, I’m committed to my current role and striving to be my best. I hope that by February, we will be celebrating together as an organization, hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. The pathway to achieving that involves teamwork and a collective effort towards our championship goal. Each of us needs to play our part in this endeavor.”
Contractual Commitment
Having secured a four-year contract with the Falcons last year, Cousins is slated to receive a base salary of $27.5 million in 2025. Unless unforeseen circumstances arise, such as an injury, he is expected to fulfill his commitment to the Atlanta team.
