Injury Update for Montreal Canadiens
The Montreal Canadiens have announced that forward Kirby Dach will be sidelined for approximately four to six weeks due to a fractured foot, as confirmed by the team on Sunday. This latest injury adds to a growing list of setbacks for the Canadiens, who are striving for their first back-to-back playoff appearances since the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
Additional Injuries
Earlier this week, the team revealed that defenseman Kaiden Guhle is expected to miss up to ten weeks following surgery on an adductor muscle. Additionally, forward Alex Newhook will be out for up to four months after undergoing a procedure for a broken ankle. This follows another injury blow, with winger Patrik Laine ruled out for three to four months after having surgery for a core muscle issue.
Kirby Dach’s Performance
Dach, who has recorded five goals and seven points in 15 games this season, logged 14 minutes and 43 seconds of ice time while managing just one shot on goal in a recent 3-2 defeat against the Boston Bruins. The 24-year-old forward, selected as the third overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, missing time due to a torn ACL and MCL in 2023. He also faced a setback last year with a separate knee injury that kept him out for 25 games.
Current Team Standing
As of Sunday, the Canadiens hold a record of 10 wins, 6 losses, and 2 overtime losses, placing them second in the Atlantic Division—just two points behind the Bruins. However, the team is currently on a disappointing streak, having lost their last three games and allowing 15 goals while only managing three of their own, with five defeats in their last six outings.
