Kieffer Moore’s Commitment to Wrexham
Kieffer Moore, the Wrexham striker, has vowed that the club will convert negative sentiments directed towards them into motivation as they seek to bounce back from a disappointing start to their Sky Bet Championship season. After initially taking a two-goal lead against Sheffield Wednesday at home, Wrexham found themselves relinquishing that advantage, finishing the match in a 2-2 draw. Following earlier losses to Southampton and West Bromwich Albion, the team’s early performance has attracted criticism online, particularly due to their significant investment of £23 million ($31.1 million) over the summer, which included acquiring ten new players under the stewardship of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
Using Pressure as Motivation
“Of course, us players and staff know that. It’s something we can use really. Pressure is a privilege, to have that on your shoulders and to wear the shirt is a massive honour.”
Moore expressed confidence that the team would use this pressure constructively, stating,
“Each and every person will use that to improve the team and the results will come. I can promise that.”
Emphasizing commitment, Moore added,
“I know what this club wants to achieve and we’re all working really hard to do that.”
Team Dynamics and Future Goals
Having recently joined Wrexham from Sheffield United, Moore made an impact by scoring twice in the first half, marking his debut with goals. However, Sheffield Wednesday, who also experienced two consecutive defeats at the season’s start, dominated the second half. Wrexham’s lead was cancelled out as Barry Bannan and Bailey Cadamarteri found the net, and Sheffield nearly clinched a victory with a last-minute effort from Charlie McNeill.
Moore highlighted the importance of the team’s chemistry, remarking,
“There’s new faces in the building. It is going to take time to gel. Ultimately we need to do that quicker.”
He reiterated the need to stay proactive as a striker, saying,
“For me it was just about to keep putting myself in dangerous positions. I got in those positions against Southampton and West Brom and some days it falls for you and some days it doesn’t. But as a striker, you need to keep plugging away and get in those positions.”
