Kevin De Bruyne Looks Forward to New Chapter at Napoli After Leaving Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne’s New Adventure with Napoli

Kevin De Bruyne, the renowned Belgian midfielder, is eager to embark on a new adventure with Serie A champions Napoli after parting ways with Manchester City due to the lack of a contract renewal. After a decade marked by outstanding achievements in the Premier League, De Bruyne transitioned to Napoli last month on a free transfer.

Reuniting with Romelu Lukaku

The 34-year-old player expressed his enthusiasm for reuniting with fellow Belgian and long-time friend Romelu Lukaku, who has been instrumental in his decision to join Napoli.

“Having spent such a long time in the Premier League, I felt it was time for me to look for new opportunities outside England,”

he remarked during a press conference on Saturday.

“My career at Manchester City has been fulfilling, and I remain grateful for it, but this new challenge excites me greatly.”

Adapting to Serie A

Speaking about his move to Italy, De Bruyne acknowledged the thrill of joining a team that is already a league champion while still looking to enhance their roster.

“I believe I can contribute to the team’s growth while adapting to a different style of play in a new competitive environment,”

he added.

The Importance of Friendship

In addition to adjusting to the Serie A, De Bruyne sees having Lukaku around as a significant advantage.

“Romelu was supportive of my decision to come here. We’ve known each other since we were kids and shared a strong bond, especially during our time at Chelsea when we lived together. His familiarity with the coach and the team will surely ease my transition,”

he stated.

Upcoming Season

Napoli is set to kick off their 2025-26 Serie A season on August 13, facing Sassuolo in their opening match.
