Karolina Muchova sheds light on ex-boyfriend distraction during US Open journey

Karolina Muchova’s Journey at the 2025 US Open

Karolina Muchova’s journey to the third round of the 2025 US Open was anything but straightforward, as she grappled with not only tough competition but also personal distractions. The 29-year-old Czech tennis star first faced the formidable Venus Williams, who at 45 years old showcased her enduring prowess on the court. In a grueling three-set match, Muchova managed to secure a victory, finishing 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.

Second Round Challenge

In her second round, Muchova encountered another strenuous challenge in Sorana Cirstea from Romania. Cirstea delivered an impressive performance, which led the match to a climactic three sets. Ultimately, Muchova triumphed with a score of 7-6(0), 6-7(3), 6-4. However, there was a moment during the first set when Muchova appeared visibly unfocused. This prompted questions from Czech reporters at the post-match press conference regarding her state of mind during the game.

“It’s something that’s not directly related to tennis, so I prefer not to elaborate. But his presence startled me a bit,” Muchova explained, noting her discomfort, which impacted her concentration.

After requesting him to leave, he complied, allowing Muchova to regain her focus as the match progressed.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead, Muchova is set to compete against fellow Czech Linda Noskova, marking an exciting all-Czech encounter that has garnered considerable attention from fans. This matchup comes after the surprising early exit of sixth-seeded Madison Keys, which has opened the draw for the winner. Muchova and Noskova previously teamed up during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they reached the semi-finals and narrowly missed out on a bronze medal.

“Linda is a wonderful person. We became close during the Olympics and continue to be in touch; our friendship extends beyond just tennis,” Muchova expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming match.
