Jules Koundé, the French defender for FC Barcelona, announced on Wednesday his decision to extend his contract with the club until June 2030. Currently, he has a deal that is set to expire in 2027, but Koundé expressed optimism that the formal signing of his new contract would occur shortly.

Speaking to the press in Seoul, where the team is engaged in a tour of Asia, he shared:

“It’s only a matter of days before it’s finalized. When we return, everything will be wrapped up, which makes me very happy. This process has been swift, as both the club and I are aligned in our desire to continue this partnership. I feel great here and am very excited about the ambitions of the club. Every season, we strive for all the trophies, and I have no plans to leave. My new commitment extends until 2030.”

Koundé’s Impact at Barcelona

At just 26 years of age, Koundé has firmly established himself as a key player for Barcelona, primarily functioning as a right-back. Since his transfer from Sevilla in 2022, he has made a significant impact, notching up seven goals and 18 assists in 141 games across various competitions.

During his time with Barcelona, he has also celebrated major victories, including a league title, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup last season.
