Josh Sargent Embraces Norwich City Tenure Ahead of World Cup Preparation

Josh Sargent’s Commitment to Norwich City

Josh Sargent, the American forward currently playing for Norwich City in the English Championship, expressed his contentment with his current situation amid speculation about potential transfers. The 25-year-old is keenly aware of the importance of his club performance as he prepares for the upcoming World Cup.

“I’ve made decisions that impact not just me, but my family too. I feel I’m in a really solid position at Norwich where I can find the back of the net, which is crucial as we head towards the World Cup,”

Sargent commented during a press conference for the U.S. men’s national team.

Impressive Start to the Season

The striker has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, netting six goals in just five matches across various competitions. As he heads into the international break, Sargent hopes to leverage his club success to break a goal drought for the national team that has persisted since 2019.

“I would be lying if I said I didn’t think about it. I realize it’s been too long since I scored for the national team, but I’m confident in my abilities, and I just need to keep working hard,”

he explained. He assured fans that he believes his scoring for the national team is just around the corner.

Transfer Speculations and Teammate Support

Earlier this summer, there were reports suggesting that Sargent declined a transfer to the Bundesliga, particularly expressing interest from clubs like VfL Wolfsburg and Sunderland from the Premier League. Sargent confirmed there were indeed inquiries from various teams but reiterated his commitment to Norwich.

Teammate Tim Ream supported Sargent’s abilities, stating,

“Nobody is really worried about Josh. We’ve all known he could be a significant goal scorer from a young age. What he’s doing at Norwich, the variety of goals he’s scoring—he just needs to continue putting in the effort and the goals will follow.”

Upcoming Matches for the U.S. National Team

As part of their ongoing preparations for the World Cup, the U.S. national team is set to face South Korea this Saturday at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey, followed by a matchup against Japan three days later at Lower.com Field in Ohio.
