Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Event Unveils Stacked Preliminary Card

Preliminary Card Unveiled for Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Golden Boy Promotions have officially unveiled the complete lineup of preliminary bouts for the highly anticipated showdown between Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.. This notable event is scheduled to take place on June 28, live on DAZN pay-per-view from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event is promoted officially by Golden Boy and sponsored by CELSIUS Live Fit Essential Energy, Event Ticket Center, and Fansly.

Featured Fighters in the Preliminary Card

Among the fighters featured on the preliminary card is John “Scrappy” Ramirez (14-1, 9 KOs), a standout from East Los Angeles and the current #1 WBA contender. He will participate in a 10-round super flyweight match on the evening of the fight. Ramirez, who is well-regarded for his entertaining combat style, has won multiple titles as an amateur, including the Sugar Bert national championship and the Southern California State championship in 2018. He has a recent victory under his belt, having defeated Ephraim Bui unanimously in December 2024, with his opponent for June 28 yet to be determined.

Adding to the preliminary roster is undefeated Victor Morales Jr. (20-0-1, 10 KOs) from Vancouver, Washington. Morales Jr. is looking to continue his impressive run following a decisive TKO victory over Jose Ivan Guardado Ortiz last December. He is poised to face the experienced Renee Alvarado (34-16, 22 KOs), the former WBA super featherweight champion, in a 10-round super featherweight clash. Alvarado will seek to hand Morales Jr. his first professional loss, especially after experiencing a tough unanimous decision loss against Geo Lopez in April 2025.

Another exciting matchup on the preliminary card features Alexander “Alley Cat” Gueche (7-0, 5 KOs), a former two-time US national amateur champion. He’s set to compete in an 8-round bantamweight bout against Vincent “The Beast” Avina (8-1-1, 7 KOs), himself a four-time national amateur champion. Gueche is coming off a powerful stoppage win over veteran Lito Dante, while Avina, known for an impressive knockout ratio, aims to disrupt Gueche’s winning streak.

Joel Iriarte (7-0, 7 KOs), also undefeated and a former Team USA representative, is another promising fighter on the card. He will take on Tanzanian talent Yusuph “Mr. Mwanza” Metu (11-2, 8 KOs) in an 8-round welterweight showdown. Iriarte boasts a stellar amateur background with 17 national titles and has shown his prowess as a professional, finishing all of his fights within two rounds. His last fight netted him the WBA continental gold title, making this matchup a significant challenge for Metu, who is making his second appearance in the U.S.

Promoter Excitement and Anticipation

Oscar De La Hoya, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, expressed enthusiasm about the preliminary card, highlighting the potential of the fighters involved and their capacity to become the sport’s next generation of stars. As anticipation builds for the main event between Paul and Chavez Jr., this preliminary card is already generating buzz.
